Julie Anna Thomas was born on 5 June and hails from Vainikulam, Thiruvalla, Kerala. His zodiac sign is Gemini.
He studied at St. Thomas English Medium UP School in Vainikulam. His mother, who was a nurse in India, first moved to Pennsylvania in the 70s due to a shortage of qualified nurses. Matthew and his father followed in 1986. However, his father, who was a pharmacist in India, could not afford his further studies in the US due to financial constraints. She grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she completed high school. In America, his businessman father faced legal problems and the family had to struggle a lot during their early days in America. My dad faced many problems with his business partner, who was of Indian origin and had attended law school in America. Although he was not a licensed attorney, my parents were always afraid of him. He constantly threatened and intimidated my parents with one thing or the other. Once he withdrew all the money from the business account without any notice and without doing any work. They withdrew the money just before the franchise fees were due and I watched as my parents struggled to pay the fees and all the bills. I saw the nightmare it created for my parents. The desire to become a lawyer was born from that experience.”
From 1994 to 1999, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Administration of Justice/Sociology from Penn State University, Pennsylvania, USA. Subsequently, he obtained the Juris Doctor (JD) degree from Delaware Law School, Widener University, Delaware, US (1999–2002). During her academic years, she was also president of the Student Government Association at Penn State Abington and received a citation for leadership from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. He also studied about the Dutch criminal justice system at Leiden University in the Netherlands.
