Jon Bon Jovi talks about the early days of his marriage to Dorothea Hurley.
During his appearance on ABC Halfway In particular, the music icon talked about how she “got her way” during the early days of their marriage. He further joked that “there weren’t 100 girls in [his] life” at that moment.
“I’m a rock ‘n’ roll star, I’m not a saint,” he declared. “I’m Jon Bon Jovi. He was pretty good. But if you think he was ever going to endanger… something for believing the narcissist in me was real? What a stupid thing to do. What kind of excess does a man need to fuel that fire? Not worth it.”
The singer-songwriter also praised his wife for not being afraid to call him over the years. “She’s also there when I fall,” he continued. And I’ll be there for her when she falls. No matter where I went in my career, the ups and downs, we got there together.”
Although they met and fell in love during their high school days, Jon Bon Jovi and Dorothea Hurley briefly separated in 1985. However, the couple reconciled and married in Las Vegas on April 29, 1989. They share four children, one daughter, and three sons.
The musician went on to give some marriage advice to a young couple saying, “Every day is a challenge. And a change, but if they grow together, hopefully things will work out.”
Jon Bon Jovi admitted he and Dorothea Hurley wouldn’t have been able to celebrate their latest milestone without her ‘tolerance’
Earlier this month, Jon Bon Jovi admitted that if it weren’t for Dorothea Hurley’s tolerance, the couple wouldn’t be where they are today.
“These are all the wonderful clichés of rock stardom,” he explained to The independent. “It is about never lying about having been a saint, but about not being so stupid as to [mess] neither does home life.”
Jon Bon Jovi later explained that the marriage lasted so long because of a “mutual admiration society” and being lucky enough to have grown up together.
In addition to talking about his marriage, Bon Jovi talked about his son Jake and his commitment to Strange things star Millie Brown.
“They are two young people who pursue a dream together,” said the rocker. “So we support it, because our hope for them (and Millie’s parents’ hope for them, because Bob and Kelly Brown also met when they were very little) is that the children will grow up together.”
Bon Jovi added: “Anything after that is out of the control of the four of us as parents, but they are good kids. “They will figure it out.”
