John Stamos opens up about his journey to sobriety.
The 60 year old Full house The star has been sober for eight years. During a recent interview, she revealed the moment that led to his decision to stop drinking and enter rehab.
He also explained why he hasn’t been tempted to start drinking again since he quit.

Speaking to People, John explained that a DUI in 2015 was the point that made him seek help for his alcohol addiction.
“I had that DUI and I was like, ‘I can’t do this.’ I have to straighten up,’” he told the outlet. “That’s when I confused the universe because I’m not a bad person, but I was doing horrible things.”
Going to rehab was “a little dark,” but it led me to make good friends. She also credited his support system for getting through this difficult time.
“I had a lot waiting for me and I feel bad because a lot of people don’t do it, because they burned their lives,” he said. “Luckily I had my sisters, but I also had Most complete house.”
Years later, John said his wife Caitlin and son Billy are the driving force behind his continued sobriety.
“They have kept me on this path because, on the path to getting sober and taking care of yourself, everyone tries. Everybody does it. You could go on for a while. Then it’s like, ‘I can drink again,’” she explained. “So the thing they do the most for me is stay on the path.”
The DUI is another factor driving your determination.
“It’s not that hard for me because it’s still so fresh in my mind that all I have to do is look at that picture of me handcuffed on that street,” he said. “I was sitting on a sidewalk or whatever. It makes me vomit right now just thinking about it [about it]” he adds. “Never again.”
In his memoir, John revealed that he “hated” one of his exes. He also talked about a traumatic experience from his past.
