Jim Harbaugh committed to play football for Bo Schembechler’s Michigan Wolverines football team in 1982. It was he who came to Michigan with a “high school reputation as a skilled California passer.” When he was 18 years old, he was the backup to quarterback Steve Smith. He was able to perform well in the annual spring game in April 1983, completing 10 of 15 passes for 116 yards.
