Jet Black is one of the founders of the British rock group The Stranglers.

Jet Black, born on August 26, 1938, started his retail career before deciding to pursue a career in music. In 1974, he founded The Stranglers with singer Hugh Cornwell. He was a member of the band until 2015 when he announced his retirement. Jet’s health issues have always had a negative impact on his performance. He was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation in 2007 and is unable to travel outside the UK to perform as it could exacerbate his health problems. The following year, he had chest problems and had to limit his workload.

The British rock band was best known for their early albums and songs. They became famous in the 1970s and 1980s with songs like No More Heroes, Always the Sun, Big Thing Coming and others. Jean-Jacques Burnel, Baz Warne, Jim Macaulay and Toby Hounsham are the current members of the band.
