Almost two years after marrying Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez reveals that she has forgiven her husband for the pain he caused her.

In his new Amazon Prime documentary The greatest love story ever told Lopez had a candid conversation with Affleck about his past.

“I think I was mad at you for a long time,” Jennifer Lopez explained to Ben Affleck, according to PEOPLE. “But that anguish put us both on the path of discovering ourselves to be better people. I think I have forgiven you until the end. I think I need to forgive myself. [for] some things.”

Lopez and Affleck met on the set of their 2002 film. Giglio. They became engaged later that year and were originally scheduled to marry in September 2003. However, after postponing their wedding due to “excessive media attention”, the couple eventually broke up.

After the relationship ended, Jennifer Lopez married Marc Anthony, while Ben Affleck married Jennifer Garner. Eventually, both marriages ended and the duo reconnected. They got engaged in April 2022 and married a few months later.

Earlier this month, Jennifer Lopez spoke to Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe about her relationship with Ben Affleck.

“I knew in my heart that I wanted to be with him for the rest of my life,” López explained. “I knew it. But it didn’t look like we were going to make it. And that’s why I got scared.”

Jennifer Lopez further noted that she and Ben Affleck weren’t “mature enough” to handle their relationship the first time. “Even though he was in his twenties and I was in my thirties, he still wasn’t… we weren’t ready to deal with it,” she continued. “And look at each other and say: what we have is real, we have to try hard, we have to work a little. “We just weren’t there yet.”

Lopez also confirmed that she and Affleck didn’t break up immediately after postponing their 2003 wedding. “It happened over the course of the next few months,” she revealed. “Because what she did was cast doubt on me, and both of us, about what our relationship was and where it was going, I think.”
