Jennifer Coolidge is the latest winner of MTV’s Comedic Genius Award.
the white lotus The star, who also picked up the popcorn award for Most Scared Performance, thanks those in attendance at the writers’ strike in her acceptance speech.
“Thank you, MTV,” he began. “Thank you for honoring me with this amazing Comedy Genius Award.”
Jennifer then named a few past winners, who started Groundlings with her.
Jennifer then paid tribute to the writers who are on strike right now.
“Almost all great comedies start with great writers and I think, you know, as a proud member of [SAG-AFTRA]I stand here before you tonight, supporting my sisters and brothers in the WGA who are fighting right now, fighting for the rights of artists everywhere,” he said.
“I think of Shakespeare’s words when he once said: ‘The play is the thing.’ Well, I don’t want to put words in his mouth or anything, but I think what he really meant was that it’s everything.”
