Javed Habib Akhtar was born on 26 June 1963 (age 58; as in 2021) in Rashtrapati Bhavan Block No. 12 and house no. 32. He did a master’s degree in French from Jawaharlal Nehru University.

After completing his course in London, Javed was hired by Sunsilk, where he worked for nine years. He returned to India in 1989 as a spokesperson for hairdressing. He started conducting workshops and seminars. He opened small units in remote places of India and taught a few students. In this way he was able to open his own salon network in India. Soon, he started writing books on hairstyle and hair care. They have over 790 outlets across 24 states in India and over 41 academies. They also have franchises outside India.

- In January 2022, during a training seminar in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, the celebrity hair stylist spit on a woman’s hair and joked that his spit worked too. Soon a video of this incident went viral on social media, after which he was heavily criticized. The woman seen in the video has been identified as Pooja Gupta, who runs a parlor named Vanshika Beauty Parlor in Baraut and also criticized Habib for his action. He said,
My name is Pooja Gupta, I run a parlor named Vanshika Beauty Parlor and am a resident of Baraut. I attended the seminar of Javed Habib sir yesterday. He had called me on stage to get my hair cut and he behaved very badly. He was telling that if you do not have water then you can also use your spit. I didn’t get my haircut. I will get my hair cut at any local shop but never at Javed Habib.”
