Jason Myers A Meteorologist Passed Away In A Tragic Helicopter Crash

Jason Myers, a WBTV meteorologist, was killed in a helicopter crash on November 22. Myers and Sky3 pilot Chip Tayag were found dead at the Nations Ford Road exit near the Freeway. Interstate 77, where the disaster occurred.

WBTV reported in memory of Myers and Tayag:

“The WBTV family has suffered a tremendous loss.” Our Sky3 press helicopter crashed midday on Tuesday, killing two of our colleagues. Meteorologist Jason Myers and pilot Chip Tayag were killed. We are trying to support their family at this terrible time.”

According to Sheriff Johnny Jennings of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Tayag may have steered the helicopter out of the way before it crashed. According to eyewitnesses, the pilot appeared to be making maneuvers to avoid traffic. The cause of the crash has not yet been released and the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.

According to Jason Myer’s WBTV profile, he was born in Salisbury, North Carolina and grew up watching WBTV. He holds a bachelor’s degree in meteorology with a major in communications from North Carolina State University. Myers met Jillian while attending NC State University. At the time, she was a student at Meredith College in North Carolina.

Jason joined WBTV in 2019 and the couple moved to their hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina. While it’s not certain how long they’ve been together, Jillian described Jason as her “childhood sweetheart” in the caption of their 2021 anniversary post. Jillian’s Facebook profile says she’s the Facility Manager at Classical Conversations Inc. and he is currently working at the Arborbook Christian Academy. Jason and Jillian eventually had four children: two sons, Drew and Luke, and two daughters, Lilly and Lydian.

Myers began her weather career at KRBC-TV in Abilene, Texas, then moved to WRIC-TV in Richmond, Virginia. Then he worked for WBTV. From 2013 to 2019, he was the chief meteorologist for WTVQ in Lexington, Kentucky. Although he is a famous person, he does not have a Wikipedia page so there is no complete information about his career.
