Jason Mcintyre’s career
In 2006, Jason McIntyre, a graduate of James Madison University, and David Lessa started the blog “The Big Lead” in the United States. In 2009, this popular sports news site averaged over 8 million views per month. After winning praise for his insightful sports analysis on his blog, USA Today jumped at the opportunity to use him as its flagship publication in 2012. Under his leadership , it has grown into one of the most read sports blogs in the United States.
The author of the blog started his journalistic career as a reporter for “The Bergen Record (NJ)”. He worked as a freelance journalist at Maxim, ESPN.com, ESPN The Magazine, and CBSSports.com before becoming an editor of US Weekly.
He was a host on “Yahoo Sports Radio” before joining Fox Sports Radio as a host in September 2016. Along with co-hosts Colin Cowherd and Jason Whitlock, he is currently contributing to FS1’s “Speak FOR YOURSELF”.
In an unexpected turn of events, it was revealed that Minute Media had purchased The Big Lead. Additionally, Minute Media owns sites including 90min, 12up, MentalFloss and The Big Lead, which were acquired from Gannet when Jason McIntyre sold it to the company in 2010 for a seven-figure fee.
However, in a twist, Jason, who started the site in 2006, will not be participating in the new acquisition. According to a March 2019 report, Minute Media is said to be making major changes to The Big Lead, including a personnel reshuffle.
The reason why Jason won’t be working with the team has yet to be made public. Jason hasn’t said anything about it yet. But it looks like the man who started The Big Lead will have to find a new business venture.
