Kelce officially announced his retirement after the 2024 season ended. But the thought of hanging up his cleats crossed the Eagles star’s mind long before that.
Kelce starred in an Amazon Prime documentary last year that documents his life off the field. In the documentary, his wife Kylie revealed that the Pro Bowl center has considered retiring “for years.”
“I don’t think people realize that the beating you’re taking affects the way you interact with your family,” he said.
“I always tell people, no matter what happens with football, how it ends, I would like him to retire when he can still get on the field and play comfortably with our children.”

The Eagles began last season as one of the best teams in the NFL winning their first five games. But injuries compromised his season. They went from being a Super Bowl contender to being eliminated from the first round of the playoffs. Seemingly in the blink of an eye.
Following his retirement announcement, Jason Kelce said last season “sucked” for the Eagles. But the now former Eagles center did show optimism for the future.
“Even though last season really sucked, I wouldn’t trade my team with you or those teams for the world,” Kelce said.
“Everything happens for a reason. And I really enjoyed my time with your trainer. Sometimes the flowers recede a little but the roots remain. And I can’t wait to see how it blooms again next season.”
