After a major health scare that made headlines, Jamie Foxx makes his official return to television.
Jamie returns as host (along with his daughter, Corinne Foxx) of Fox’s Beat Shazam. This comes after his long battle with a serious illness, for which he was hospitalized just a year ago.
When he originally became ill, Corinne posted a statement on Instagram revealing that her father had suffered a “medical complication” but was in “recovery.”
“We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday,” he wrote on behalf of his family. “Thankfully, thanks to quick action and great care, he is now on the road to recovery.”
At that time countless rumors arose about his state of health. In fact, many people believed that Jamie was blind, paralyzed, or “preparing for the worst.” Fortunately, this was not the case, and Jamie cleared up all the speculation.
“I went through something I thought I would never happen,” she said in an Instagram post. “I know a lot of people were waiting or wanting to hear an update, but to be honest with you, I didn’t want you to see me like that, man.”

During her brief health scare, Jamie took some time off the screen.
However, in a recent Fox promotional clip, Jamie announced his return as host of Beat Shazam.
The clip begins with Corinne, who begins with the phrase “I’m back for a new season of Beat Shazam!”
The video then cuts to Jamie, who says, “Uh, yeah, and I’m back too!”
The preview then shows clips of Jamie presenting the show, with a voiceover saying: “It’s Jamie’s long-awaited return to television.”
“Oh, wow! It’s season 7! Jamie announces in one part of the clip. We then see previews of scenes from the new season, which looks to be a blast.
Allison Wallach, president of FOX Entertainment’s Unscripted Entertainment, recently released a statement praising Jamie and Corinne as hosts.
“[They] They are the heart and soul of Beat Shazam,” she said. “As our undeniably dynamic father-daughter hosting team, they bring a relationship like no other to a show like no other, and it’s wonderful to have them back on set this season.”
