Nearly 15 months after the Green Lantern project was first announced, DCU head James Gunn has sparked new DC fan excitement for the upcoming Green Lantern project with a coordinated post on his social accounts .So far, there is very little information about the Max series lanternbeyond what Gunn revealed in January 2023, but his latest tease – here’s Superman Already in active production – may bring more imminent news.

Of course, the first DCU movie will include Green Lantern, with Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner also joining Supermanof the ensemble cast. This fits into Gunn’s plan to have the DCU feel already integrated when it arrives, with fully-fledged and active superheroes. The initial announcement of “Lantern” pitched it as a suspense drama starring arguably two of the most popular versions of “Green Lantern”:

“We’re calling it Lantern, starring two of our favorite Green Lanterns – Hal Jordan and John Stewart. We’re going to be talking about HBO Max because of all the shows we’re going to talk about today. Our two The Lantern is more of a true detective type of mystery – one based on Earth.”

Gunn just shared an image of the first Green Lantern pointing at the sky, covered in blood, and firing energy blasts from its energy rings. None of his posts on Threads or Instagram came with a caption, but naturally they sparked a lot of speculation and hype. What James Gunn’s new Green Lantern teases actually means

While there’s no confirmation of which Green Lantern appears in Gunn’s post – or indeed which one he’s referring to – the DCU’s first Green Lanterns, Guy Gardner and Hal Jordan, most often wear white Gloves. John Stewart, on the other hand, doesn’t wear gloves. Theoretically, the post could be further hype for Gardner’s role in Superman — which might explain why Eve Teschmacher actress Sara Sampaio Sampaio) responded to the post on Instagram with a “spoiler” response.

That said, the bloodstained image of the Lantern Gauntlet doesn’t necessarily fit the intended scale of Gardner’s character in the film. Superman at this stage. However, this does fit in with Gardner’s portrayal as a Green Lantern, rather than some of his more famous colleagues. He was known to be a violent man, and it was by no means unusual for his gloves to be stained with blood.

Hal Jordan might be a stronger guess here, though, giving a brief summary of what we can expect lantern heart.Gunn has already said that the show’s central mystery will be integrated into the rest of the first chapter of the DCU: Gods and Monsters, and will position lantern Given their status as universal protectors, a frontline defense against any major upcoming threats does make sense.

If you’re looking for any possible story clues, the Green Lantern art Gunn shared was created by Dave Johnson (DevilPig on DeviantArt) for Green Lantern Wars: Aftermath. The Green Lantern Wars storyline stars Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner, John Stewart, Kyle Rayner, and Kilowog as they battle fellow mind-controlled Green Lanterns, and Rogue Krang, the Guardian of the Universe, is trying to take over the universe. This would be a huge storyline that would require Green Lantern to be thrown into it immediately.

Artist Dave Johnson also revealed in the original post that DC featured it at Comic-Con 2011:

“I forgot to post this. Again, like every other GL cover I’ve done, my marching orders were as follows: “Just draw a Green Lantern fist with blood on it. “Well, again, there’s no way I could say no to an easy gig.

I think I succeeded, because DC turned this image (sans blood) into a giant banner at Comic-Con this year. Seriously, it’s over 20 feet tall. Pen and ink on paper. The rest is Photoshop’s trick. ”
