James Arness’ career
James’ brother Peter visited him while he was recovering from a leg injury in the hospital. Peter advised his brother to take a radio course during his long recovery. Like James finished the course and started to enter the entertainment industry thanks to a teacher’s recommendation. In 1945, he worked as a broadcaster for WLOL. In Minnesota, WLOL is a radio station near the Twin Cities.
