Cherelle Parker is on track to become Philadelphia’s first female mayor after winning the Democratic nomination. Parker is expected to win in a city where Democrats outnumber Republicans seven to one. Unlike some of her progressive competitors, Cherelle vowed to hire more police officers and reinstate a constitutional stop-and-frisk system.
Cherelle Parker is married to Ben Mullins, a member of the IBEW union.
Cherelle Parker married Ben Mullins on July 30, 2010. Parker represented the 200th district in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives at the time. Mullins was a leader in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), a union representing workers and retirees in the electrical industry throughout the Americas.
The Rev. Dr. Alyn Waller of Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church presided over the ceremony. The more than 300 guests included the mayor, state representatives and state senators. State Representative Dwight Evans and Councilwoman Marian B. Tasco filled in for Parker’s deceased parents.
Parker and Mullins are keeping the details of their married life a secret. We know little about the couple, except that they live in the Mount Airy section of Philadelphia.
The Philadelphia Democratic Party candidate describes herself as a working mom on Instagram. However, the identities or the number of her children are unclear.
Ben Mullins is no longer the leader of the Philadelphia chapter of the IBEW. However, we believe that he is still a member of the union.
