Kayleigh McEnany served as the White House Press Secretary under former President Trump from April 2020 until the end of Trump’s term. McEnany fondly remembers her time in President Trump’s administration, calling the former president “an amazing boss, a great person and a true patriot” through a June 2021 Instagram post.
Unsurprisingly, Kayleigh has become an outspoken critic of President Joe Biden. As her Fox News contributor, Kayleigh has criticized many of Joe Biden’s policies.
Unlike most media personalities, Kayleigh is quite open about her personal life.
She began dating former Mets pitcher Sean Gilmartin in 2015 and they married in 2017.
Sean and Kayleigh began dating while he was playing for the New York Mets in 2015, and the couple tied the knot on November 18, 2017. Kayleigh announced the news through a couple of photos she posted on Twitter along with the following message:
“I married the love of my life @GilmartinSean on Saturday and @rodrigovphoto captured it beautifully. What an amazing photographer. He couldn’t be happier with how they turned out. I can’t wait to see the rest!”
Gilmartin enjoys having a famous wife and has grown accustomed to receiving comments about Kayleigh from his teammates. On the contrary, he doesn’t enjoy the hate and ridicule he receives from people who disagree with Kayleigh’s strong political leanings. kayleigh said The Tampa Bay Times Don’t waste time reading negative comments. She said:
“None of us have time to focus on social media comments. We both have a singular focus and a common purpose: for me, it is to re-elect President Trump. For Sean, it’s all about getting outs and helping the team win.”
Kayleigh is a lifelong baseball fan and loyal supporter of Sean’s current team, the Tampa Bay Rays. She and her family have held the Rays’ season ticket for nearly a decade. Kayleigh is proud of her husband’s career and she told the Tampa Bay Times who watches their games “from the campaign headquarters, from the planes and throughout the electoral campaign.”
Kayleigh’s father owns a successful roofing company.
Kayleigh was born and raised in Tampa, Florida, the daughter of Michael McEnany and Leanne McEnany. She grew up with a sister, Ryann, and a brother, Michael. Kayleigh’s father played football for Mississippi State from 1979 to 1982. In 1985, he founded his successful company, McEnany Roofing.
Kayleigh and her siblings grew up in a religious home. She and Ryann attended the Catholic Holy Names Academy girls’ school, while Michael attended the Jesuit boys’ high school.
Kayleigh’s mother helps raise Kayleigh’s daughter while campaigning for President Trump

Kayleigh and Sean welcomed their daughter, Blake Avery Gilmartin, on November 25, 2019. Soon after, Kayleigh jumped onto President Trump’s election campaign, while Sean landed a spot on the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team. McEnany said The Tampa Bay Times that she was delighted after Sean became a member of the Rays team. She said:
“Having Sean in Tampa means many more trips back to our permanent residence and to the city I have always known and loved. With a 3-month-old and myself in a different state on the campaign trail almost daily, having Sean in Tampa is incredibly helpful.”
Raising a baby and playing a crucial role in President Trump’s administration and campaign is difficult, but Kayleigh has benefited significantly from her mother’s help. Kayleigh’s mom travels with Kayleigh and helps raise Blake. Kayleigh thanked her mother through the following message posted on Twitter alongside Blake’s photo:
“Being a mom is the best thing in life. I am so blessed to have my sweet girl and I thank God for her! A bit of a flashback, but I love and appreciate this beautiful photo. I am also so thankful to have the best mom in the world, who is constantly helping me every step of the way!”
Kayleigh is under a lot of pressure working for a controversial president, but Sean feels his job comes with a unique kind of pressure. He offered the following response when the Tampa Bay Times He asked her to choose who between him and Kayleigh has a more stressful job:
“Being the press secretary for President Trump’s campaign requires hard work and commitment and is truly the honor of a lifetime. But stress-wise, nothing compares to a full count, two outs, bases loaded and the game on the line.”
