The people on board had to abandon the ship after it hit an iceberg. Jack Dawson (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) sacrifices his life to save his love interest Rose (played by Kate Winslet). He uses a door to keep her afloat and she eventually drowns.
That infamous door from the scene was auctioned off for a whopping $718,750, according to TMZ.

The iconic door was just one of the film’s props that came with a hefty price tag. The purple dress Winslet wore during most of the sinking scenes also sold for six figures. But it was only a modest $125,000 compared to the door. Still, two accessories sold for almost a million dollars. Not bad for a movie that’s almost 30 years old.
