Courteney Cox, known for her iconic role as Monica Geller on the hit series. FriendsShe recently shared a heartfelt tribute to her co-star Matthew Perry, two weeks after his unexpected passing.
In an emotional Instagram post on Tuesday, the 59-year-old actress recalled her time with Perry and expressed gratitude for every moment she spent with him. She uploaded a clip of a memorable scene in the season 4 finale of Friendswhere David Schwimmer’s character discovers Monica and Chandler (played by Cox and Perry) in bed together.
Revealing a behind-the-scenes detail, Cox shared that Perry would often whisper funny lines for her to say before filming, showing his kind and humorous nature. She described Perry as funny, kind-hearted and acknowledged the countless precious moments they shared.
Cox’s touching tribute came shortly after Matt LeBlanc became the first. Friends star to address Perry’s loss on social media.
Perry, 54, tragically died on October 28 after apparently drowning at his Los Angeles home. Reports indicated that he was found unconscious in a hot tub after playing pickleball earlier that day. Authorities confirmed there was no foul play and only discovered prescription drugs at the scene, although the exact cause of death remains undisclosed.
Cox and Perry played Monica and Chandler on the beloved series. Friends from 1994 to 2004. Their characters’ secret romance blossomed into a beloved story that culminated in marriage and the adoption of twins.
In the 2022 memoir, Perry detailed her personal struggle with addiction and revealed that she entered rehab immediately after filming Chandler and Monica’s wedding episode, despite the success of Friends.
While recalling Perry’s immense pressure during the show and her subsequent battles with substance abuse, Cox emphasized her resilience and progress, highlighting her determination to overcome challenges.
