How to Find (& Catch) Indeedee in Pokémon Sword & Shield

Indeedee are dual Psychic and Normal-type Pokémon introduced in the Sword & Shield installments. A cross between a household guardian and a servant, they are the butlers and maids of the Pokémon world. Many are seen in the Galar region serving their trainers as valets, helping out in restaurants, and in the Pokémon Centers’ left services wing. Indeedee are known as the emotion Pokémon, and can sense the happiness and gratitude from others using their psychic horns.

As mentioned, Indeedee are both Psychic and Normal-type, a rare combination few other Pokémon have. Because Normal types are immune to Ghost-types, a Psychic-type weakness, Indeedee are only weak to Bug and Dark-type moves. Another standout feature of this species is that male and female Indeedee have differing appearances, stat totals, abilities, and learnable moves. For instance, males are slightly faster and are more offensive, whereas the females have a tad more defense.  Overall, they have relatively balanced stats and learn a lot of supporting moves like After You, for males, and Follow Me, for females. They play a more auxiliary role in combat, making them well suited for double battles. This guide will help show players where they can find Indeedee in Pokémon Sword & Shield, and how to catch them.

How to Find and Catch Indeedee in Pokémon Sword & Shield

It’s important to note that the version of the game players have determined which Indeedee variant appears: Males in Sword, Females in Shield. Regardless, there are 2 places in Galar Indeedee are located. The first place players can catch them is at the Glimwood Tangle, a forest traversable right after the fourth gym battle.  Their levels are similar to the players’ at that point in the game, around 35, but are the rarest encounter in the area. Another area players can find them is at the Lake of Outrage, the Wild Area west of Hammerlocke’s entrance. Only those that have the Rotom Bike upgrade to cross water can make it to this location, which is after the sixth gym battle. Indeedee will only appear here if the weather is foggy, so players may need to wait for the weather to change unless they want to change it themselves.  They can also be found in Max Raid battles across Galar’s wild areas, particularly in East Lake Axewell, Bridge Field, Rolling Fields, Motostoke Riverbank, Stony Wilderness, and Hammerlocke Hills.

Catching Indeedee is not too difficult, but there are a few details to keep in mind. Their main attacking moves are Psychic types, so don’t bring Pokémon types that are weak to it, like Poison or Fighting. Dark-type Pokémon are immune to Psychic attacks entirely, so bring one to nullify the bulk of Indeedee’s attacks. Because Indeedee are supportive Pokémon, a lot of their moves, like Helping Hand, are useless in single battles. However, it’s Aromatherapy move, which cures status conditions, can make it harder to catch. Pokémon inflicted with status conditions have a higher chance of being caught, but Indeedee could negate that entirely when using this move. Aromatherapy cannot be used while a Pokémon is asleep, so those that are able to inflict Sleep on it are preferable. Taunt can also prevent Aromatherapy from being used, as taunted Pokémon are forced to attack and not use any support moves.
