Snapchat+, Snap Inc.’s paid membership, launches in the summer. As a result, its paid membership has some important features reduced. For example, priority replies so subscribers receive priority replies from Snap-stars. The latest release is the new Snapchat My Story timer, but there’s another feature that shouldn’t be overlooked — custom notification sounds.
Getting personalized notification sounds from Snapchat for specific group or friend messages is fun and easy to set up. Snapchat+ users first open the app and swipe right to activate the Messages tab. Alternatively, users can click on the icon at the bottom. Select a friend or group chat, then tap and hold the chat icon. When the menu appears, select Chat Settings. On the next page, select Notification sound. A list of options will now be displayed. Test each sound by clicking on its name. After selecting the desired alert sound, select Set notification sound. Now, every time Snapchat sends a reminder for that conversation, the phone plays a new, unique sound. Snapchat offers six ringtones: Alien Amulet, Fairy Glass, Log Goblin, Bottle Pop, Melody Beach, and Mini Drop.
Snapchat+ membership required
Anyone who wants to use this cool new feature will have to pay to become a Snapchat Premium member. It costs $3.99 a month, but users can be among the first to try out new features and get exclusive content and tools—like new Bitmoji wallpapers. However, users who aren’t interested in paying for social media subscription services will be happy to know that sometimes deleted features on Snapchat+ will later be available to all users. That’s not the case for every feature, so free users shouldn’t expect custom notification sounds, though that’s to be expected.
If users find themselves using Snapchat a lot and are considering Snapchat+, it can be helpful to join the ranks of the platform’s most loyal users. The free basic version is fun, but Snapchat+ offers so much more. However, Snapchat+ is not required to use the app. The new custom notification sound feature is hot, but is it worth your monthly cup of coffee?
