At this point, it doesn’t look like anyone else will be getting in the way of Sydney Paight and Isaiah Campbell’s relationship, but the dynamic between the Love Island USA couple has changed since Casa Amor. Sydney and Isaiah coupled up on day one at the villa and quickly made a passionate connection, reminiscent of what you might see in a romantic movie. However, when it comes to real-life romance, the pair has certainly had more ups and downs than the average couple. In fact, the reason the villa’s pool is always full of crystal water may be because Sydney’s been filling it with her tears all season long.
Whether it was Isaiah walking off to chat with Valerie Bragg or kissing Mady McLanahan in bed after Sydney recoupled with Andy Voyen, the female islander has spent quite a lot of time crying over Isaiah. Just when it seemed things were looking up for the two, their relationship took a turn from the worst when Isaiah made a connection with Phoebe Siegel at Casa Amor and returned to the villa with the model-esque New Yorker on his arm. Sydney, who chose not to recouple, could do nothing but watch a new girl getting close to the islander she has been falling harder for every day. Not long after, Isaiah realized how careless he’d been and has been running after Sydney ever since, but things have changed between them, and his former partner isn’t letting him back in so easy.
At the start of Love Island USA season 4, Sydney had such strong feelings for Isaiah that the simplest of apologies could win her back after he made her cry. However, after getting close with Phoebe while away from the villa and returning with her, Isaiah completely broke Sydney’s trust. While she cried enough tears for a second pool at the villa, Sydney returned stronger. While it seems likely that she and Isaiah will recouple during the next ceremony, Sydney’s making her partner work hard to regain her trust. The ball is in her court now, and instead of wondering if Isaiah will choose her, he’s wondering if she will choose him. The look on Isaiah’s face when Joel Bierwert entered the villa says enough about how worried he is about losing Sydney.
She spent all the Casa Amor episodes wishing she could kiss and cuddle him, but during the recent Snog, Marry, Pie challenge, Sydney took the opportunity to make him look like a clown by smashing a pie in his face and kissing someone else. Isaiah, on the other hand, didn’t hesitate to get down on one knee and propose to Sydney during the challenge. He’s also spent the last few episodes laying next to Sydney in the villa beds and begging her to take him back, something no Love Island USA fans expected to see back when he was getting to know other female contestants and left Sydney in tears.
It seems Isaiah has finally seen the error of his ways and is willing to do anything to make it up to Sydney. The female Love Island USA contestant has turned into the “bad b*tch” she’s been affirming herself in the mirrors of the villa makeup room. Gone are the days of her worrying he might choose someone else because now Sydney has Isaiah wrapped around her finger, and his grip is tighter than what Phoebe accused her of having on him. Like a little school boy, Isaiah has learned his lesson, and with Sydney now in control, he better not mess up again.
