‘Hocus Pocus 3’ Screenwriter Offers Update on Upcoming Film and Teases ‘There’s Something on the Table’

Hocus Pocus 3 It’s currently in development at Disney!

After a very successful second film a year ago on Disney+, another film got the nod last summer.

Now that the writers’ strike is over, screenwriter Jen D’Angelo, who wrote Hocus Pocus 2 and is working on the third, talked about where they are in development.

“We are still in the story phase, we are still working on it. “We’ve been working on some ideas and it’s been fun to dive back into that world and we have so many directions to go and so many new characters to explore,” he said. E.W..

Jen even joked that she’s interested in exploring more of one new character from the second film in particular.

“We’ve only scratched the surface of Hannah Waddingham’s witch mother,” he said, adding that he believes she is the mother referenced in the first film.

“I think she is that mother, that she is the mother of the scorpion cake and that they had a much more meaningful relationship with her than we haven’t seen yet,” he shared. “But maybe we’ll see it.”

Jen says “everything is on the table” and “we probably want to see them as adults again,” but they don’t have a full story set in stone yet.

“I hope we get to explore every aspect of these stories and take these characters on lots of fun adventures. 3 is still in the early stages, we don’t really know what it is, but we are exploring all options and I think everyone is delighted with the reaction it Hocus Pocus 2 We have, and we are excited to continue those stories,” he jokes.

“I want to do right by the fans and I definitely want to take into account what they want to see, but at the same time, I feel like movies can go a little wrong when they only cater to the fans and try to check off a list, like, ‘ We have this and this, so the fans should be happy,’” Jen adds. “You really want to make sure that the movie stands on its own and that the fan service moments are integrated into the story and are satisfying and not simply added.”
