Early life and childhood

Heather Mack was born as Lois Heather Mack in the year 1995 in Chicago, Illinois, United States. Her age could be 27 or 28 years old. However, there is no exact information about her date of birth.

She was born to her father James L. Mack and her mother Sheila von Wiese. Her father was a popular musician and composer and her mother was a homemaker. She also has US citizenship, but her ethnicity is not available.

The two then placed the suitcase containing the body in the trunk of a taxi outside the St. Regis. A security officer discovered blood outside the luggage after the couple had left and told the taxi driver to go to the police station because the couple had not yet returned. Both Mack and Schaeffer were detained at a nearby hotel when police discovered the body inside the suitcase. The couple claimed to authorities that Sheila was killed by robbers while they were managing to leave.

Heather Mack – Trial

Both Mack and Schaeffer were considered prisoners on August 15, 2014. Mack’s pregnancy was initially believed to be a scam to get her returned home on August 20 when a urine test revealed that she was actually pregnant. Schaeffer confessed to killing Sheila on September 19, and Heather confessed to helping him pack her body in the suitcase.

Sheila Von Wiese Mack allegedly tried to harm her unborn child, so Schaeffer held her for 30 seconds before claiming she had killed her. In April 2015, Heather Mack and Tommy Schaeffer received prison terms of 10 and 18 years, respectively. Heather received a light sentence throughout the sentencing process, according to the judges.

Robert Bibbs, cousin of Tommy Schaefer, was arrested in Chicago on September 23, 2015 and charged with conspiring to help Mack and Schaefer kill Mack’s mother. On June 2, 2017, he was found guilty of one count of conspiracy to murder a foreign national and sentenced to 9 years in prison. According to the plea agreement, Bibbs knew that Heather had paid Tommy $50,000 to kill her mother. He also allegedly gave Schaefer advice on how to carry out the murder and encouraged him to do so.

Trust Fund Lawsuits

Mack received a $1.6 million trust fund left to him by his mother. The trust fund was created to provide small annual payments to Mack until he turned 30 and then to pay the remaining balance.
