In the interview, Petra alleged that Sam approached her to ask her to direct some of Euphoria and that he told her that the show was inspired by his work.

“I moved to Los Angeles and worked for HBO for about five months,” Petra said. “I thought, ‘I’m running the show.’ I created a whole world for it, I did the casting, whatever. [And at] At the last minute, HBO said, ‘We’re not going to hire you because you’re too young.'”

“A year later, I walked out of my apartment and saw this sign. [for Euphoria], and it is exactly… a copy of my work. I started to cry. I was so surprised. I mean, it happens to me a lot in my career, but not on a scale like that,” Petra continued.

“That series was an exorcism for me,” Petra said. “I had to change my style because of Euphoria. Many people started taking photos in that style and I no longer felt like myself and I felt disconnected from that. “I need to find myself again, because I no longer resonate with this.”

A source close to Sam denies the allegations.

“It is well known that Euphoria it’s a remake of an Israeli show,” the source told The Daily Beast.

The source added that Sam offered to throw Petra’s name “into the ring” to be considered a director. The source said: “As a fan of his, I was hoping there was a chance they could work together like that. But in no way was anything promised. “That wouldn’t even have been possible for them to do because, ultimately, it’s the network’s decision.”

Sam recently teased what will happen in the upcoming third season of Euphoria.
