Hayley Erbert returns to the dance studio with Derek Hough 3 months after emergency skull surgery

Just three months after she had to undergo emergency skull surgery, Derek Hough’s wife, Hayley Erbert, is ready to return to the dance studio.

As previously reported, at the end of the Dance Symphony’s performance in Washington DC last fall, Hayley Erbert became disoriented. She was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where she was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma due to a ruptured blood vessel. The diagnosis required an emergency craniectomy.

Shortly after the first surgery, Erbert had to undergo a second skull operation. She has been recovering since then.

The situation occurred just a few months after Hayley Erbert and Derek Hough got married. The couple began dating in 2015, but did not go public with their romance until 2017. They became engaged in June 2022 and married on August 26, 2023.

In a post on Instagram, Hough shared a black and white image of him and Hayley Erbert standing in the studio. “Enter this blank canvas together,” he wrote in the caption. “Starting to paint again.”

Fans quickly commented on the post and praised Erbert’s progress. “Be careful and rest that body of yours,” one fan wrote. “I know you love to dance, but take care of yourself.”

Another fan posted words of encouragement for the professional dancer. “Remember: it is a marathon and not a sprint. Slow and steady with small steps and lots of rest in between.”
