Harry Potter’s Miriam Margolyes regrets her eating habits: “I’m fat… I’m screwed”

Miriam Margolyes opens up about her weight.

The 82-year-old actress, who played herbology expert Professor Sprout in the Harry Potter movies, talked about his health in the How to fail podcast.

During the conversation, she was candid about how her diet has impacted her health and the deterioration of her spine.

“I have limited my life by my craving for fudge, chopped liver, or cheesecake. All these absurdities. I shouldn’t have been so greedy. I should have been stronger,” she said.

He suffers from spinal stenosis, which occurs “when the space inside the spine is too small. This can put pressure on the spinal cord and the nerves that travel through the spine,” according to the Mayo Clinic.

“It is a big defeat. Is a cream puff, a chocolate or a portion of chopped liver more important than your health, than your aesthetic presentation? No, it is not. It’s not more important. It’s just greed, lack of discipline, all the things that make me ashamed of myself,” she continued.

“It is a major failure and that is why I have spinal stenosis. I can not walk. “I’ll be in a wheelchair before I’m much older.”

Treatment for spinal stenosis may include physical therapy with steroids. More serious conditions may require surgery and “excess weight can worsen the pain of spinal stenosis,” via the Cleveland Clinic.

“The only thing I haven’t conquered and should have conquered is my weight. I am a mass of fat. I’m fat. And being fat and 82 years old is really pathetic,” she said candidly.
