British billionaire Hamish Harding was one of five people aboard the missing tourist submarine used to take tourists on the Titanic disaster.
According to Sky News, French submarine pilot Paul-Henry Nargeolet, CEO and founder of OceanGate Expeditions Stockton Rush was also on board the Titan.
The family has confirmed that British billionaire Hamish Harding was on the missing Titanic submarine.
Brian Szasz, Harding’s stepson, wrote on Facebook: “My thoughts and prayers are with my stepfather Hamish Harding as his submarine disappeared while discovering the Titanic.” A search and rescue operation is underway.
One of OceanGate Excursions’ submarines has gone missing in the Atlantic Ocean, the company announced, and the search is still ongoing. OceanGate Expeditions provides facilities for deep-water excursions.
According to the US Coast Guard, five people were on board the 21-foot yacht, which also warned that the search operation was “challenging” due to its isolated location. It is currently taking place about 900 miles east of Cape Cod.

OceanGate claims the Titan submarine has 96 hours of “life support” and can dive to 13,120 feet “with a comfortable margin of safety.” To reach the wreck, you have to descend 12,500 feet in about two hours.
