Gulab Devi aka Gulabo Devi was born on Wednesday, 1 June 1955 (age 67 years; as in 2022) in Chandausi, Uttar Pradesh, India. His zodiac sign is Gemini. After completing his schooling at BMG Inter College in Chandausi, Uttar Pradesh, he joined Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, where he completed his graduation. He earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Agra University (now Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University) in 1974. In 1976, he earned a Master of Arts degree from SM College, Chandausi. While studying at SM College, Gulab Devi became a member of the RSS-affiliated student wing Akhil Bharatiya Vishwa Parishad (ABVP).

Since Gulab Devi belonged to a family with a weak economic background, she started working as a political science teacher in Bharatiya M Girls Inter College after completing her post-graduation in 1976. She became the principal of Inter College.
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)
While working as a teacher at Bharatiya M Girls Inter College, Gulab Devi joined the RSS and started working as a pracharak in Uttar Pradesh. She continued working in the RSS until she joined the BJP in 1991.
Politics
Gulab Devi was the councilor of Chandausi from 1989 to 1990. Gulab Devi contested the 1991 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections on a BJP ticket from the Scheduled Caste-reserved Chandausi constituency. He won the election by defeating Samajwadi Party candidate Yad Ram by 6,256 votes. In 1996, he contested the UP Assembly elections from Chandausi constituency. In the election, he defeated Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate Karan Singh by 33,259 votes. In 1997, he was appointed as a member of the Estimates Committee. From 1997 to 2002, Gulab Devi was the Minister of Women Welfare, Child Development and Nutrition. He got a ticket from BJP to contest UP Assembly elections from Chandausi constituency in 2002 and won by a margin of 700 votes over Samajwadi Party candidate named Satish Premi. In the same year, he was appointed as a member of the Joint Committee on Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Vimukt Jatis. He served on the committee until 2003. Gulab Devi lost the 2007 UP Legislative Assembly election against BSP candidate Girish Chandra by 9,743 votes. From 2008 to 2012, she worked as the vice president of BJP UP. He contested the 2012 UP Assembly election from Chandausi constituency; However, Gulab Devi was defeated by SP candidate Lakshmi by a margin of 4,007 votes. In 2017, she won the UP Assembly elections, contesting on a BJP ticket against Indian National Congress (INC) candidate KM Vimlesh Kumari from Chandausi constituency. Gulab won over Vimlesh by 49,469 votes.
He took charge of the Ministry of State for Social Welfare, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in 2017. On BJP ticket, he contested UP State Assembly elections in 2022 from Chandausi constituency. In the election, he won over a socialist. Candidate Vimlesh Kumar won by 35,367 votes.
When the BJP allotted them tickets to contest the 2022 assembly elections, around 200 BJP workers and appointment holders resigned from their posts as they were unhappy with the party’s decision. In an interview, a BJP appointment holder said that the workers resigned because they wanted their chosen candidate to get a ticket to contest from Chandausi constituency. Talking about this he said,
The people who resigned are angry with Gulab Devi being given party ticket for the assembly elections. They were demanding ticket for someone else and we have also informed this to the party high command. About 200 booth presidents, 15 sector in-charges and a large number of party workers have resigned.
He was appointed Minister of Secondary Education (Independent Charge) in 2022.
Controversy
Abuse with a journalist
In 2023, a journalist and YouTuber named Sanjay Rana was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Police for creating a ruckus while questioning Gulab Devi at an event organized by the UP government. At the event, Sanjay Rana asked several questions about the promises made during his election campaign for the 2022 UP state elections, which angered Gulab and she replied to the journalist saying that she knew he was going to disrupt the event. Were there to do. He said,
I was recognizing your eyes for a long time. Even when you were standing there, I recognized your eyes… All these things that you have said are right in their place but the time has not come yet. But you forgot that this Kundanpur village and Budhanagar Khandwa are also mine. All these things I have said will work.”
Later, the police arrested Sanjay after BJP Yuva Morcha district general secretary Shubham Raghav filed a complaint against him for disrupting the programme. Gulab Devi told the media in her statement that she had no knowledge about Sanjay’s arrest, but she knew that he had assaulted a BJP worker at the event. Later, after getting bail, the police released Sanjay.
