Guillermo del Toro is ready to return with another cartoon, the version of the Buried Giants, after the victory of the previous film, Pinocchio. Video will also be produced for Netflix. Guillermo del Toro is said to have enlisted the help of animation production company ShadowMachine for The Buried Giant, just as he did for Pinocchio. The Oscar-nominated version of Carlo Collodi’s children’s book has received critical acclaim and praise for its visual style and storytelling.
With the translation of Carlo Collodi’s book, the Curious Cabinet author has his first foray into the realm of stop-motion animation. The Buried Giant should be similar to del Toro’s earlier painting as it combines aspects of magical realism, creature, and iconic grandeur.
The screenplay for The Buried Giant was written by Guillermo del Toro and Dennis Kelly.
While details about Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming project are scarce, the director has revealed that he has already begun writing the script with Dennis Kelly. The painting will be based on the fantasy book of the same name by British novelist Kazuo Ishiguro, who won the Nobel Prize. The plot of the novel revolves around an elderly English couple, Axl and Beatrice, living in a fictional post-Arthurian England where no one can preserve lasting memories. A couple goes looking for their baby after they think they might have one.
Considering del Toro’s signature in the story, it would be an entertaining picture. In a recent comment on the picture, the director said:
“The Buried Giant continues my animation collaboration with Netflix and our search for stop-motion as a means to deliver complex stories and create endless worlds. It is an honor and a great responsibility to direct the script that Dennis Kelly and I are translating from Kazuo Ishiguro’s insightful and innovative book.”
Scott Stuber, head of Netflix Cinema, added:

Pinocchio, directed by del Toro and Mark Gustafson, has become one of the most popular films of 2022, receiving numerous Academy awards and critical acclaim around the world. Del Toro had won a BAFTA for best animated feature a few days earlier. It is also among the top ten photos in nearly 100 countries.
