Guddu Muslim is an Indian bomb maker and property dealer who was an associate of Indian gangster Atiq Ahmed. He is one of the accused in the murder of Indian politician Umesh Pal.

While he was studying in school, he started getting involved in various criminal activities like robbery and extortion. In his adolescence, he met some criminals who taught him how to make bombs. When his parents came to know about his involvement in criminal activities, they decided to shift him to a relative’s house in Lucknow. He continued his studies there and while he was studying at Lucknow University, he met two criminals named Abhay Singh and Dhananjay Singh. After this he along with Abhay and Dhananjay got involved in various criminal activities in Lucknow. In 1996, Guddu was involved in the murder of Indian contractor Santosh Singh. After this Guddu went to Bihar because the Special Task Force of Uttar Pradesh was after him in the case of murder of Santosh Singh. In March 1997, Guddu married Frederick J. Made headlines for the murder of a physical education teacher named Gomes, who was teaching at La Martiniere College, Lucknow. Dhananjay Singh was also involved in the murder. The local police arrested Guddu Muslim in the case of Gomes’ murder, Guddu also confessed to his crime but was released due to lack of evidence. Later, some politicians started seeking his help to get tender pools for railways and mobile towers in Lucknow. After this Guddu met Indian criminal Shriprakash Shukla, who helped Guddu in various criminal activities. He started considering Guddu Shukla as his guru. After Shukla’s police encounter, Guddu met Gorakhpur’s mafia Parvez Tada. While working with Parvez, Guddu met Indian politician and gangster Atiq Ahmed and assisted Atiq in various criminal activities. After the police encounter of Parvez Tada, he became close to Atiq. In 2001, the Special Task Force of Uttar Pradesh arrested Guddu outside Beur Jail, Patna, in the Santosh Singh murder case. However, Atiq got his bail.

Some sources claim that Guddu has connections with Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI. Once, some weapons made in Pakistan were also recovered from Guddu. In an interview, retired CO of the police department Shivpujan Yadav talked about Guddu Muslim. He said,

I was in Gorakhpur Police Department from 90s to 2000s. At that time, Guddu Muslim’s name had come up in many big incidents. At that time its location was always on the Nepal border. After committing any incident, Guddu used to run away to Nepal and take refuge there.

Guddu was also involved in the murder of MLA Raju Pal in 2005. Initially his name was not included in the murder case. When the Mayawati government came to power in 2007, his name was linked to the case and the case was reopened. The names of six shooters including Guddu were involved in the Raju Pal murder case. On 28 February 2006, Atiq Ahmed’s goons, including Guddu Muslim, kidnapped Umesh (an Indian politician and witness in the Raju Pal murder case) and threatened him not to testify in court, after which Umesh FIR lodged at Dhumanganj police station of Allahabad (now Prayagraj). ) against Atiq and Atiq’s brother Ashraf Ahmed. A Prayagraj court on March 28, 2023 found Atiq Ahmed, lawyer Saulat Hanif and Dinesh Pasi guilty of kidnapping Umesh Pal in 2006; Special MP-MLA court judge Dinesh Chandra Shukla found him guilty under Indian Penal Code section 364-A (kidnapping or abducting in furtherance of murder). However, the court found seven people, including Atiq Ahmed’s brother Khalid Azim alias Ashraf, not guilty. On 27 March 2023, Uttar Pradesh Police took Atiq Ahmed from Gujarat jail to Prayagraj after a 24-hour road journey. On 24 February 2023, Umesh Pal was shot dead by armed men, identified as goons of Atiq Ahmed, near his house in Sulem Sarai area of ​​Dhumanganj. According to reports, the attackers, including Guddu Muslim, threw crude bombs at Umesh Pal and fired several rounds.

The local police had announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh on Guddu Muslim. He absconded and fled from West Bengal to Bihar, Gujarat and Delhi. After this, the local police put a show cause notice at his house in Prayagraj.

According to UP Police, after the murder of Umesh Pal, Guddu had taken shelter at the house of Satish Pandey (resident of Jhansi). However, Satish’s wife denied the claims. On 15 April 2023, Atiq Ahmed was talking to media persons seconds before he was shot dead by three men on the campus of MLN Medical College, Prayagraj. Atiq’s last words while talking to him were,

My point is that Guddu is a Muslim.”

However, before this sentence could be completed, Atiq was shot dead.
