‘Grease’ Casting Director Rejects Complaints About Actors’ Age In Beloved Musical Movie

He Fat The casting director is launching a complaint about the iconic film and its cast: that the stars were too old to believably play high school teenagers.

If you didn’t know, John Travolta played Danny Zuko at the age of 23, while Olivia Newton-John was 29 when she played Sandy Olsson. Some of her co-stars were in their 30s and played much younger.

Some have complained that the cast makes the movie hard to believe. However, casting director Joel Thurm responded to those complaints.

“People might say that the cast is too old, but Fat it is not a documentary; It’s a fantasy,” Joel said. The Guardian.

He continued, adding, “It’s a non-PC fairy tale and it’s better for the non-teen cast,” added Thurm. “The only thing that was important was that all the cast members looked the same age, that they were.”
