Gravity Falls was about the odd supernatural occurrences of the town, filled with countless quirky characters, and followed Dipper and Mabel Pines as they stayed with their Great Uncle Stan for the summer. Fans love Gravity Falls and have come up with fan theories to show their appreciation and love for the characters whether loved or hated that appeared on the show.
Gravity Falls was a well-received animated show that viewers of every age enjoyed and had some great characters. However, some characters were not as well loved as others.

Love: Dipper Pines
Dipper Pines is the main character of the story and he’s a lovable and awkward teenager. He becomes obsessed with a journal he finds that documents strange supernatural occurrences in the town and he wants to figure out the secrets of Gravity Falls. He’s a relatable character who overthinks everything and wants to learn the answers to all of his questions about the supernatural science of the town.
Hate: Pacifica Northwest
Pacifica Northwest is a spoiled rich character who depends on her wealth and status to get what she wants. Although she does warm up to Dipper and Mabel throughout the series, she spends most of it trying to beat Mabel at various competitions. Pacifica gets what she wants and resents Mabel for not being afraid of her or letting her get her way.
Love: Mabel Pines
Mabel Pines (voiced by Kristen Schaal) has an outgoing and quirky personality that makes her a unique character. She’s unstoppable when she makes up her mind and she’s always optimistic it’s difficult not to love her.
Mabel cares about and loves everyone and she’s quick to tell them exactly how she feels which is always endearing. Mabel is a loyal and supportive sister who is always there for Dipper when he needs her.
Hate: Li’l Gideon
Li’l Gideon is a more polished con man than Grunkle Stan is, but he has none of the gruff lovable charm that Stan has. Gideon tries to make the town of Gravity Falls believe he has psychic abilities, but he’s getting supernatural help from Ford’s journals. He is upset when Mabel doesn’t want to date him and swears revenge on her and Dipper and is constantly trying to steal the Mystery Shack from Stan.
Love: Grunkle Stan
Grunkle Stan is a gruff but lovable character who is given a large amount of screentime so the audience can warm up to his particular personality. He really embodies a weirdly lovable con man persona that one might not want to meet in real life, but he is an incredibly entertaining character on screen. Even though Stan is rough around the edges, it’s clear that he cares deeply for Dipper, Mabel, Soos, and his brother Ford and would do anything to protect them.
Hate: Bill Cipher
Bill Cipher is a character that most fans love to hate as he’s interesting and tends to be at the center or at least involved in most of the mysteries and cryptograms in the show, but he’s also the evilest character in the show. He’s the main villain throughout the series and causes every beloved character pain whenever he shows up. He’s possessed Dipper, manipulated Mabel, and tortured the entire town when he’s finally released to spread chaos in Gravity Falls.
Love: Soos
Soos is one of the most lovable and hilarious characters of the series as he’s completely naïve, blissfully happy, and unaware of their dangerous supernatural surroundings. He views Grunkle Stan as a father figure and has been working at the Mystery Shack for almost his entire life. He loves Dipper and Mabel and would do anything to protect them and the Mystery Shack.
Hate: Robbie Valentino
Robbie Valentino (voiced by T.J. Miller) is a typical teenager who is helplessly in love with Wendy and likes to complain about everything. He’s usually at odds with Dipper, who also has a crush on Wendy but either way thinks she’d be happier without Robbie and he’s probably right.
Robbie isn’t a terrible character, but he’s one of the weaker ones on the show who doesn’t have too much of a story or background to him besides being obsessed with Wendy and hating his perfectly nice parents.
Love: Wendy Corduroy
Wendy (voiced by Linda Cardellini) is a strong, capable, and independent character who is effortlessly cool. She has a great balance between being aloof and caring deeply for her friends so she can be carefree but also supportive when her friends need her. Dipper has a crush on her for most of the series and while the two remain friends it’s understandable why he, and all of the fans, love her so much.
Hate: Ford Pines
Hate is too strong of a word for Ford Pines (voiced by J.K. Simmons), but his introduction to the show caused a lot of issues with the otherwise happy trio of Dipper, Mabel, and Stan. Ford has an interesting introduction as Dipper and Mabel didn’t even know he existed and when he is brought back to his dimension he’s very standoffish and upset with Stan that he would even try to save him. He has a rough personality, just like his loveable brother, but the audience has a shorter amount of time to warm up to him.
