Comedian Jo Koy revealed himself as one of the “Brads and Chads” at last night’s Golden Globes ceremony when he made an ill-received joke about Taylor Swift’s frequent appearances at Kansas City Chiefs games in support of her boyfriend Travis Kelce.
“The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? At the Golden Globes we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift,” the comedian joked.
The camera then panned to Swift, who looked unimpressed as she took a sip of champagne.
Swifties (and regular viewers who couldn’t help but cringe at Koy’s awkward monologue) quickly took to social media to criticize the lackluster joke and the comedian who made it.
Immediately after telling the joke, the host followed up with an awkward “I’m sorry.” However, in a later interview with ET, Koy seemed to take a different stance.
“Aww, man, that was nice. I was just saying it was cute,” Koy said of his swipe at Taylor Swift. “I was just saying there are fewer cuts, that’s all.”
“Maybe he was thirsty?” the interviewer suggested about Swift’s reaction. “Maybe she just needed to drink champagne.”
“Aww, man,” Koy responded with a smile.
Swifties mercilessly roast Jo Koy after Taylor Swift prank
Jo Koy’s internal audience let out some polite laughter during her opening monologue. For the most part, though, the comedian was greeted with blank stares and raised eyebrows. Robert De Niro responded with a bemused smile. Meanwhile, Harrison Ford appeared to roll his eyes.
The reaction of the celebrities present was enough to embarrass anyone. But it was nothing compared to the reaction from online viewers, who mercilessly criticized Koy for his awkward monologue.

“My inexplicable hatred for Jo Koy is now validated,” one viewer wrote. “Jo Koy is UNSUFFERABLE. Where are Tina Fey and Amy Poehler?!?!” said another.

“I’ve never heard of Jo koy and now I know why,” said one user. “Honestly, I’ve never seen a worse monologue as an awards presenter. Literally never,” wrote another. “I thought he was the cheap option and this is what you get when you spend little money,” a third added.
