Rob Marciano ‘banned’ from GMA set
Entertainment Weekly spoke to a source close to the situation who says details about his departure are “scant.” But the famous meteorologist was banned from the set of the morning show. For an extended period.
“Details on the departure are scarce, but a March 2023 report from Page Six claimed that Marciano, who has been noticeably absent from Good morning america for months – was “banned” G.M.A. recordings. “He allegedly made a colleague feel uncomfortable,” wrote Entertainment Weekly.
“An ABC News spokesperson declined to comment, while a representative for Marciano did not immediately respond to EW’s request for comment.”
Meteorologists Allegedly Made People ‘Uncomfortable’
The New York Post’s Page Six spoke to several sources close to the situation about Marciano’s premature departure. He had reportedly engaged in inappropriate behavior with some of his co-workers. And he made them feel “uncomfortable.”
“He was found to have done something inappropriate. So he was punished for it and they still haven’t let him return,” a source told the outlet in 2023.
“It made people uncomfortable. “There was a period when there were some problems… a series of alarming events,” a second source added.
‘GMA’ executive producer made final call
Marciano’s undesirable behavior became common knowledge throughout the Good Morning America set. So much so that Simon Swink, the executive producer of the flagship show, found out about his behavior. So that’s when he made the executive decision to ban him from the set.
“She is very sensible and very serious. She is focused on work and wants to continue [her staff] focused and happy,” a source said of Swink.
Another source said there is a major focus on “protecting the culture” of Good Morning America.
“Any decision made about the team is based first and foremost on protecting the culture and allowing our people to focus on the work of news gathering, without distractions,” the source said.
