Carole Thomas, Gloria Serge’s neighbor, witnessed the incident and immediately called the police. Serge was dragged into the lake, according to Carole, who called 911; After a while of not being seen, his body suddenly appeared on the surface of the water. Carole said she tried to save Serge with a stick, but it was too late.
After the incident, the alligator was euthanized.
The alligator that attacked Serge was about 11 feet long.
