Inspired by Kate Middleton’s cancer speech on Friday, actress Gina Bellman took to social media to announce her own diagnosis.
In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), the Leverage star praised to the Princess for her brave announcement. “Catherine, Princess of Wales, showed such composure and grace today at her heartbreaking announcement,” Bellman said. “Hoping for her treatment to be successful and also for a kinder world.”
That’s when Gina Bellman decided to share her own cancer diagnosis. “I myself underwent treatment for breast cancer last summer,” she wrote.
“Until now I didn’t have the courage to make it public. 8 months later, I’m back to wearing stilettos and filming 14-hour days. “For those receiving treatment right now, there is light at the end of this tunnel.”

Bellman received nothing but praise from her fans for her announcement. “Thank you for sharing… on your terms,” one fan wrote. “That’s the way it should always be”.
“Don’t think about anger, you just needed to maintain confidence during that time to get through it. And I say do whatever it takes! I’m SO GLAD you’re back and I bet better than ever!
Another follower added: “Gina, I may be just a random fan, but I am grateful and proud of your willingness to be so vulnerable to share this information. This month I complete 4 years of chemotherapy for endometrial cancer, so I have a tiny idea of what you are facing.”
Bellman played Sophie Deveraux in Leverage during its five seasons. The show ended in 2012. She now reprises the popular role of her in Leverage: Redemption.
Gina Bellman admits she never felt comfortable being a ‘sex symbol’
During a recent interview, Gina Bellman talked about her acting career over the years. She also talked about her well-known popularity.
“I was never comfortable with the whole sex symbol thing,” Bellman admitted. “It was never me and I never wanted that.”
“I don’t like dressing up, I don’t like putting on makeup or stepping on the red carpet. The only red carpet events I attend are ones supporting a friend.”
Gina Bellman further revealed that she is more of a tomboy when it comes to her fashion sense. “I don’t like crowds or attention,” she continued. “But you’re on the wrong track if you think I had a lot of painful insecurities.”
Bellman previously admitted that she felt like a “fraud” as an actress when she was a “pretty girl” who was hired for her looks and not her talent.
