Gigi Hadid breaks silence on crisis in Israel as her Palestinian father continues to speak out

Gigi Hadid is breaking her silence about the conflict happening in Israel.

For those who don’t know, the Palestinian militant group Hamas carried out a surprise attack on Israel over the weekend, killing at least 900 people so far. The militants also kidnapped at least 100 hostages and took them to Gaza, vowing to kill them if Israel carries out any airstrikes on Gaza without warning. The death toll in Gaza has reached at least 765 people due to retaliatory airstrikes.

Gigi’s father, Mohamed Hadid, was born in Palestine and the family has shown their support for the “Free Palestine” movement over the years.

Enter to see what Gigi Hadid and her father say in the midst of the crisis…

In a statement on her Instagram account, Gigi wrote: “My thoughts are with everyone affected by this unjustifiable tragedy, and every day this conflict claims innocent lives, many of whom are children. I feel deep empathy and anguish for the Palestinian struggle and life under occupation, it is a responsibility that I assume daily. “I also feel a responsibility to my Jewish friends to make it clear to them, as I have done before: while I have hopes and dreams for Palestinians, none of them include the harm of a Jewish person.”

He continued: “Terrorizing innocent people is neither aligned with the ‘Free Palestine’ movement nor does it any good. The idea that this is so has fueled a painful, decades-long cycle of back-and-forth retaliation (of which no innocent civilian, Palestinian or Israeli, deserves to be a victim), and helps perpetuate the false idea that being pro-Palestinian = anti-Semitic.”

“If you are suffering, as I share my condolences today with my loved ones, both Palestinian and Jewish, I send you my love and my strength, wherever you are and wherever you are. There are many complex, personal and valid feelings, but every human being deserves basic rights, treatment and security; regardless of his nationality, religion, ethnicity or place of birth. I know that my words will never be enough nor will they heal the deep wounds of so many people, but I pray for the safety of innocent lives, always,” he concluded.

Gigi’s father, Mohamed, has been very vocal over the past few days, expressing his support for Palestine and criticizing the Israeli government.

Mohamed shared a photo of Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and said: “His arrogance and humiliation make Palestinians, Arabs, Christians and Muslims less human than him. He is the slap in the face to humanity. He brings out the worst in both sides. He hates with hate instead of love and compassion. Send new settlers to burn cities and demolish houses and kill civilians/Muslim Arabs and spit in churches… and give free rein to terrorize communities with the IDF protecting them!!! What are these settlers called? ? There is a boiling point… I don’t know or care about Hamas as much as I don’t know or care where these agreements come from. But they are not angels. I condemn the murder of innocent civilian women. Children should not be harmed. “We are all human…we need to be treated equally.”
