“It was very emotional,” Danielle recalled with People.

After her mother was rushed to the hospital, doctors assured Danielle that her mother was stable and on the mend.

“It was amazing that she was alive, that she was okay, that she was going to be better,” Danielle said. “I knew we had a long road ahead of us, medically.”

At that point, Danielle and Jack decided to forego their original wedding plans and marry in the ICU at their mother’s bedside.

“I am so grateful to be married to the man that I am married to, because even in difficult situations and stressful situations, he has always been calm,” Danielle said. “He has always been constant. Jack said, ‘You know what? We are going to have the wedding here. And I was like, ‘In ICU?’ He was like, ‘Okay. We’re just going to pivot. So I said, ‘Okay.’”

For their ICU wedding, Danielle recalled: “My mom was on her toes. she was there I’m telling you, Shonda Rhimes couldn’t even write this. She was giving the complete series finale, Grey’s Anatomy.”

After exchanging vows at the hospital, they met their guests at Christ Church in Montclair, NJ, where they exchanged vows again and celebrated with their guests at The Castle at Skylands Manor.

“I don’t think a single person ate at the wedding,” Danielle recalled. “We were dancing and drinking… Just celebrating that my mom was alive, our nuptials. And that, honestly, for me, that original wedding showed me that those were the biggest difficulties in the beginning of our marriage.

Fast forward to 2023, her mother walked Danielle down the aisle to marry Jack again.

“It seems like in these ten years, all our dreams have come true,” said Danielle. “My mom is alive and well.”

Before their 10th anniversary, the couple knew they wanted to mark the special occasion.

“We’re trying to find ways, in this vow renewal, to redo it,” Danielle said. “It will not be as extravagant as the previous one. But we wanted it to feel intimate. We wanted it to not only be a celebration of my mother’s life, but also all the hardships we’ve been through in the last three years with the pandemic.”

She continued: “And I’m like, ‘If we can get through this, we can really get through anything.’ And so it has been my greatest honor, to be married to my husband, to have his family. Our families love each other. This man is the bomb. He has been my greatest support.”
