Ghostface Plays Guess Who With New Victims In Creative Scream 6 Poster

Ghostface invites viewers to play a guessing game in the newest poster for Scream 6. Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson revived the slasher genre with 1996’s original Scream, the first of a series of four movies. In 2022, the Scream franchise was itself revived with a legacy sequel that went on to be a surprisingly big hit, grossing $140 million.

Given those Scream 5 box office numbers, it’s no surprise that Scream 6 is now on its way, as teased again by a new poster previewing the movie’s cat-and-mouse game between Ghostface and the rest of the cast.

“Guess who’s the killer?” says the official Scream Twitter account, inviting fans to engage in the now-traditional Scream ritual of figuring out which character or characters might be hiding behind the Ghostface mask this time.

Everything We Know About Scream 6

Fans may not yet know who Ghostface is in the newest Scream movie. But they do know it’s a direct sequel to the last Scream, and will bring back stars Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Jayden Ortega, Hayden Panettiere (back as Kirby after last being featured in Scream 4) and of course Courteney Cox. Joining those returning stars are new cast members Dermot Mulroney, Henry Czerny, Samara Weaving and Tony Revolori. Conspicuous by her absence is Neve Campbell, who will not return as Sidney Prescott after playing the character in all five prior franchise installments.

Any franchise that’s been around as long as Scream will of course be met with concerns about staleness. Perhaps to combat that, Scream 6 is making a big change in setting, shifting the action from the town of Woodsboro to the big city of New York. As was teased in a recent Central Park-themed Scream 6 poster, Ghostface thinks New York might be his kind of town.

It’s obviously unsurprising that details are being kept under wraps about the latest Scream sequel. But fans have been working overtime trying to guess where the movie’s going, and some of them think they’ve figured out which of the new movie’s characters will be featured in the big Scream 6 opening kill scene. Given how huge horror is right now on the theatrical movie landscape, there’s good reason to believe the new Scream will at least equal and likely surpass the $140 million taken in by Scream 5.
