Ghalib Guru was born in 2000 (age 22 years; as of 2022) in Sopore city in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to reports, Ghalib secured 19th rank in the state in the Class 10 Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education (BOSE) examination with 94.8 per cent marks. Ghalib passed his class 12 Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE) examination with 88 percent marks from SRM Welkins School, Sopore, Jammu and Kashmir. On the day of Class 12 results, Ghalib expressed his happiness and shared his goal of becoming a doctor as it was his father’s wish. He said,
We learn from the mistakes of the past. My father could not pursue his medical career (at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences). I want to get it done.”
According to sources, after completing his schooling, Ghalib went on to prepare for the NEET exam, for which he enrolled at a coaching center in Srinagar; However, he could not crack it. Later, he decided to prepare for civil services examinations. His good marks brought him the opportunity to enter a university in Turkey to pursue a degree in medical sciences with a scholarship.

Hanging of father Afzal Guru
Reportedly, Afzal was an associate of the mastermind behind the Indian Parliament attack. It is said that two days after the Parliament attack, i.e. on 15 December 2001, the Special Cell of Delhi Police arrested Afzal from a bus stop in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the media, on June 4, 2002, Afzal Guru and others were charged under Section 102-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Section 3(2) of the Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) and various acts of terrorism. Section 302 (murder) of the Explosive Substances Act. Reportedly, on 4 August 2005, the Supreme Court confirmed Afzal Guru’s death sentence. On 3 October 2006, Tabassum Guru (Afzal’s wife) filed a mercy petition before former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, which was rejected by then President Pranab Mukherjee on 3 February 2013. On 9 February 2013, at 8 am, Afzal Guru was hanged. Death in Delhi’s Tihar Jail.
Controversy
Reportedly, Ghalib Guru once hit out at a media house that referred to him as a “proud” Indian. In an interview, Ghalib explained that he was mistakenly called a “proud” Indian after an interview in which he talked about the delay in obtaining a passport despite holding an Aadhaar card. Ghalib clarified in the interview that he could never call himself a proud Indian because his father was taken away from him forever by the Indian government.

- During an interview, Ghalib shared his peaceful relationship with the security forces. He also mentioned that she inspired him to continue his studies and focus on his goal of becoming a doctor. Ghalib said,
