Georgie Stone is an actress, writer and transgender rights activist. At the age of 10, she was the youngest person in Australia to take hormone-suppressing drugs. This sets a precedent for a rule change requiring transgender children and their families to apply to the Australian Family Court for early treatment.
She began treatment to prevent puberty in 2011, becoming the youngest person in Australia to do so and started hormone replacement therapy in 2015. Stone revealed her gender in 2014. Stone also has a twin brother. She remains an advocate for transgender youth and is one of the most popular transgender people in Australia.
Her Activity and Performance
Stone spoke on Four Corners in 2014 to discuss her court experience and the need to change the law around phase one therapy. She then drove to Canberra with other families with transgender children to meet MPs about the changes to the law in 2016. Georgie and her mother were also asked about the Safe Schools Controversy and the importance of the program. She also commented on the St Kilda Pride Center and her support for transgender children to be able to use the toilet of their choice.
She and her family participated in the Australian Experience that same year to tell her life story. Stone also started a petition on change.org to gather support for law reform. Stone’s acting credits include an appearance on the ABC television series Me Advice to My 12-Year-Old-Self. Audiences had access to 37 interviews with famous Australian women, each lasting two minutes.
She also appeared in the Australian soap opera Neighborhood and its spin-off Neighbors: Erinsborough High. Stone’s performance earned her a nomination for Best Day Star at the Inside Soap Awards 2020. In 2019, it was revealed that she would be creating and starring in The Dreamlife of Georgie Stone, a 20-minute documentary about her own life.

Georgie Stone’s Dream Life, Stone’s documentary, will premiere on Netflix on Thursday, September 22 at 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT. Maya Newell directed the 20-minute documentary which had its international premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York before its Australian premiere at the Sydney Film Festival.
