Gary Sinise pays tribute to his late son, McCanna Anthony “Mac” Sinise. Mac passed away on January 5th due to chordoma, a rare form of cancer. He was 33 years old.

Expressing the deep pain of losing a child, Sinise acknowledged the difficulty of such a loss. She also expressed her solidarity with others who have experienced similar pain.
Gary Sinise writes moving tribute to Son Mac
The tribute revealed that Mac’s battle with chordoma lasted five and a half years. He also stated that his struggle became more challenging over time. Sinise revealed that Mac was diagnosed in 2018, the same year his wife Moira Harris faced a stage 3 breast cancer diagnosis. However, he provided a silver lining by mentioning that Moira is now cancer-free after undergoing months of of treatment.
While expressing the pain of missing Mac, Gary Sinise found comfort in knowing that his son is no longer in pain. He admired Mac’s resilience during his arduous battle with incurable cancer, noting his continued efforts and refusal to give up. The actor expressed his sense of blessing, fortune and pride in being Mac’s father.
Chordoma, as described by the National Cancer Institute, is a rare, slow-growing cancer found in the tissues inside the spine. The institute notes that approximately 1 in 1 million people worldwide are diagnosed with this disease each year. Also known as notochordal sarcoma, it is commonly located near the tailbone or where the spine meets the skull.
