Facts/General Knowledge

- According to him, he decided to pursue graduation in journalism because he was one of the lead writers of his high school newspaper and also worked for a newspaper named ‘Sela Valley Optimist’ in his hometown. He said,
I was straight out of high school, and I was just flowing. I didn’t really know what I wanted to do, so I chose journalism because I was big on the school newspaper in high school, and I worked for the Sela Valley Optimist in my small hometown. [in Washington state] – You know, you’re your own photographer for the stories. I just thought it was a good life.”
- The idea of acting came to his mind when he was in his final year of graduation at the University of Washington. According to Garrett,
You grow through things. When I was a senior in high school, my brother died unexpectedly, and it hits you. I had decided that instead of getting stuck somewhere, I would do something that I would enjoy. So, my last year [at the University of Washington], just like that – because I’m extremely shy – I took an acting class. I don’t know why, but I thought, ‘Well, it’s hard to make a living as a journalist, so I should probably write plays too.’ As it was beneficial, I took an acting class, which was part of the requirement for playwrights, and that was really the first thing that piqued my interest in college. But then I graduated by just tasting [acting], and I thought, ‘Oh, this is what I wanted to do and now I’m done!’ So, I went to NYU’s graduate acting program to train.
- In interviews, he often confessed to being a big fan of the American novelist Cormac McCarthy since his college days. He claims to have gone to audition for every adaptation of McCarthy’s novels since he began acting. Ultimately ‘Deputy Wendell’.

I love animals. There was always a nervous wandering around to come out of hiding and give some love. Sometimes it took several days to gain their trust. Wonder if I still have that patience? Learning a lesson from skinny, hunchbacked, Kid Garrett.
