Authorities then determined that the suspect was inside the home and requested assistance from the Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) and Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) to safely detain the suspect.

After entering the home, officers discovered a deceased adult female. “The victim of the fatal shooting in the Lents neighborhood has been identified as Janette Becraft, 85, of Portland,” she read in the statement.

“His family has been notified of his death. “They are asking for privacy at this time, but have provided the attached photo for public release.”

It was further revealed that the medical examiner confirmed that Beacraft died of homicide due to a gunshot wound.

“He said he came home because he couldn’t stand being away from her,” Matthieu continued. “He’s a lovely boy.”

Along with Matthieu, neighbor Steve Odri spoke about Billy Jack Haynes’ personality before the murder.

“He told me, ‘Come whenever you want,’” Odri recalled. “We’ll sit down and have a beer. To me, he was just the average guy and one of my favorite heroes when he was a kid.”

Odri also praised Haynes for his past career. “Unfortunately, he was injured or he could have been as famous as Hulk Hogan.”

Billy Jack Haynes suffered so many injuries that he ended up filing a class-action lawsuit along with 50 other former wrestlers against the WWE.

The lawsuit claimed that WWE failed to protect wrestlers against repeated head injuries. The injuries often caused long-term brain damage.
