FFXIV 6.4 Preparation Tip: What to Do Before Patch Day
final fantasy 14The 6.4 update is only a week away, which means you still have time for last-minute preparations. If you’re feeling overwhelmed and don’t know how to best prepare for The Dark Throne, here are some tips to help you.
Limit your Tomestones and other battle currencies
Import a brand new patch with the entire stack of existing stones, ensuring you can purchase equipment upgrades or crafting materials instantly. You should also restrict other currencies (such as Nuts and Wolf Marks) so you can buy any new spells, minions, etc from vendors as quickly as possible.
The Allagan Astronomy book will be discontinued, but you can trade any remaining Astronomy books with Orianna in Mordona for Causality.
For crafters and gatherers: cover your white and purple strips of paper
You still have plenty of time to build up to your craft and collector tokens before the new patch is released. Don’t forget to do custom weekly delivery perks (and take advantage of any rewards offered by specific NPCs).
If you anticipate an immediate need to pay your bill, stock up on ingredients for your turn-by-turn collection (pancakes, anyone?). You can even craft before your turn in items if you have spare inventory space. The first day of production and parties can be hectic, so the more prepared you are, the better.
Review Zurvan Extreme
Have you been fighting Zurvan for a while? For the new Faux Commander challenge, Containment Bay Z1T9 (Unreal), you should return to Zurvan Ex to re-acquaint yourself with the mechanics. Even being an asynchronous/unbound party can be a valuable reminder of what’s to come — no need to ignore Soar.
The Complete Collection of Your Thresh and Moogle Tome PvP Series
Don’t let this season’s PvP rewards slip away! Even if you completely skip PvP, you can still get the “/linkpearl” emoji in time.
Don’t forget: while you can use your books with the Journey Moogle after the Treasure event ends, you can only get the unusual Mendacity Tomestone books until the patch maintenance period. .
Other quests and tips
In addition to the above, there are a few additional things to do this week in preparation for 6.4:
- Clear out your inventory, saddlebags, and weapon boxes to make room for new gear and loot.
- Set up a “quiet” or spoiler-safe chat log tab to better immerse yourself in MSQ (mute/scream,/scream and any link shells that may cause loss focus while engrossed in the story).
- Reduced party battle effects in character configuration. This is my goal to learn new raids and final tests.
- If you are a screenshot lover, please create a new screenshots folder for 6.4. Don’t forget to set the path in system settings!
While preparation is good, none of this is required. The most important thing is that you have fun and enjoy next week’s new content. See you there!
