Fetty Wap news

Rapper Fetty Wap was sentenced to six years in prison Wednesday for his role in a large-scale drug trafficking scheme in which drugs were smuggled from the West Coast and sold in New Jersey and Long Island.

The rapper, whose real name was Willie Junior Maxwell II, was found guilty of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and convicted in federal court in Central Islip, New York.

Maxwell, a resident of Paterson, New Jersey, was first arrested in October 2021 on suspicion of participating in an operation to smuggle heroin, fentanyl and other narcotics. In August, he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess cocaine-related prohibited drugs. A mandatory minimum prison sentence of five years is prescribed for the crime.

The rapper, who is widely known for his 2015 single “Trap Queen”, expressed regret in front of the judges. “I have hurt my family, my community, my admirers and myself,” he claimed. “I sincerely apologize for any harm I may have caused.” In sentencing Maxwell, Judge Joanna Seybert said, “Despite your background and everything you’ve passed, you have denied everything.”

According to authorities, Maxwell is suspected of being part of a group that transported more than 100 kilograms of cocaine, heroin, fentanyl and crack through Long Island and New Jersey between June 2019 and June 2020.

The group allegedly purchased drugs on the West Coast and shipped them across the country to Suffolk County for storage by mail and by drivers with vehicles with secret compartments. Prosecutors allege that the drugs were then turned over to dealers, who then sold them on Long Island and New Jersey. According to the prosecution, Maxwell worked for the group as a “kilogram reseller”.

During the investigation, investigators seized $1.5 million in cash, 16 kg of cocaine, 2 kg of heroin, numerous fentanyl pills as well as various weapons and ammunition. The five defendants in that case, according to the prosecution, used guns to protect drug distribution networks and organizations.

A total of six people were charged with participating in the conspiracy; Four have pleaded guilty and are awaiting sentencing. Anthony Cyntje, a New Jersey prison officer, was one of the defendants who received a 72-month sentence in March for participating in the plot.
