According to Rekha’s biography written by Yasir Usman, Farzana and Rekha share a romantic and potentially sexual relationship. The book further claims that the relationship is sexual. Reviewers of the book have said,

Talking about this, he revealed in an interview that when the entire family gathered in Delhi for family functions, he noticed a marked change in Rekha’s behavior whenever Farzana was around. Something different was going on between Rekha and Farzana. Being friends or being sisters is a very different thing, but Rekha and Farzana’s behavior was not the same. The relation between Rekha and Farzana was like that of husband and wife. I have seen all this with my own eyes.
