Olivia Neill is a Northern Irish social media star who rose to fame for posting entertaining vlogs and makeup videos on YouTube. The Belfast native joined YouTube in August 2012 and has so far amassed 682,000 subscribers on her self-titled channel. Like many popular content creators, Olivia’s following has skyrocketed during the Covid-19 pandemic.
He gained a following on other platforms, including Instagram (604,000 followers) and TikTok (1 million fans). Neill is one of the most consistent YouTubers out there. These days, content creators seem to lose interest in YouTube after gaining a following on other platforms, but that trend apparently doesn’t apply to Olivia.
This article will look at Olivia Neill’s career, love life and her recent coronavirus controversy.
Olivia had planned to go to pilot school after high school, but now plans to do YouTube for the foreseeable future.
Olivia Neill was born on September 28, 2001 in Belfast, Ireland. Despite experiencing moderate success as a YouTuber, Olivia herself always viewed it as a hobby. She mainly posted on the weekends and focused on school on the weekdays. Her plan was to join a pilot school after graduation.
Then COVID-19 hit and changed everything. The virus grounded most planes around the world, leaving pilots with nothing to do until governments slowed the spread of the virus. At the same time, Olivia’s following on social media snowballed. The above factors convinced Olivia to abandon her dreams of flight school for a career as an influencer. She revealed in a Q&A posted at the end of May 2020:
“There is no need for pilots at this time. It is probably the least demanded job. So if I spent $100,000 on pilot school right now, I couldn’t really justify it. I’m not going to get a job for years and years. It looks like we’re making YouTube for the foreseeable future. Good luck for you!”
Olivia may not be going to university, but she plans to keep in close touch with her friends, who are furthering their studies in England. She moved to London in the summer of 2020 and from the sounds of it, she loves life in The Big Smoke.
In a Q&A posted on September 24, 2020, Olivia debunked a rumor that her parents financed her move to London. She explained that she financed everything except the plane tickets, which her parents took care of. Neill has liked his time in London so much that he doesn’t think he’ll ever return to Belfast.
However, he has experienced some self-inflicted trials due to his love of partying. She lost a wallet with all her identification and her cards in an Uber. “I don’t deserve nice things,” she said. “I will never buy nice things again because that was absolutely foolish of me. And if I can’t be responsible enough for a Prada bag, I don’t deserve it.”
She had a nasty breakup with ex-boyfriend John Fletcher, but they’re on good terms now.
Olivia and John Fletcher started dating after knowing each other for a couple of years. Neill had high hopes for the relationship, even admitting in their May 2020 Q&A that she was hoping to marry him. However, their relationship collapsed several months later.
The couple had a bitter breakup, but they didn’t reveal why it was so ugly. Oliva revealed in the September 2020 Q&A that being busy with her move and her social media helped her forget the disappointment of the breakup. She said:
“The last two months of my life have literally been like the craziest two months of my life. I’ve been so distracted. That is my main advice. If I wanted to tell you how to get over someone, it’s just trying to keep yourself busy because if you don’t, you just sit in bed and cry and listen to Harry Styles. We are not doing that. We are closing that chapter.”
In that video, Olivia revealed that she was no longer in touch with John, but that there were no hard feelings between them. A month later, she posted a ‘say it or shoot it’ video with her ex-boyfriend. Olivia had traveled to Belfast to see her parents, and while she was there, she contacted John to ask if he would be willing to appear in a video.
To his surprise, John agreed. In the video, they reminisced about the ups and downs of their relationship or had a shot of liquor whenever they felt too uncomfortable to answer a question. The video features several awkward moments, but you can tell they’re on good terms. Interestingly, both implied that they have moved on.
There were rumors that Olivia was in a relationship with pop star HRVY. In her September 2020 Q&A, Olivia did not expressly deny that she was dating HRVY. “Everything is casual,” Oliva said. “We’re just…” Olivia trailed off.
Olivia apologized for flouting coronavirus protocols by leaving her bubble
In early 2021, Olivia experienced an intense backlash online after fans noticed that she had left her coronavirus bubble. In the wake of the backlash, Neill took a break from social media. He returned three weeks later with a humble apology to the fans. In a video titled day in my life: vlogolivia said:
“There was an incident a while back where I made a really stupid and selfish decision and saw a house that wasn’t in my bubble. This was a huge mistake on my part, I have no excuse for it. I just want to take full responsibility and really apologize to anyone who has left me now. Not following the Covid-19 guidelines is never something I would like to promote to my audience.”
Olivia accepted criticism for her actions, but claimed that she quit social media due to “false rumors” circulating on the internet about her. She acknowledged that her reckless actions helped instigate the rumors, but nonetheless, she was hurt by what people were saying and sharing. She added:
“I just needed to take some time off from social media as it affected me a bit, but I wanted to take some time to reflect on what I had done and get to a better place so I could go back and apologize and fully enjoy myself. responsibility. for my actions.”
