Emma Stone seems upset by Jimmy Kimmel’s ‘Poor Things’ joke at the 2024 Oscars

Emma Stone is not a happy camper. The actor seemed upset by one of Academy Award host Jimmy Kimmel’s jokes.

During the night, the Oscars showed clips of the Best Picture nominees. Stone starred poor things, nominated for the award. However, Kimmel made a joke when clips of the film were played. The comedian poked fun at the film’s R rating. He said: “Those were all the parts of ‘Poor Things’ that we can show on television.”

In response, Stone seemed visibly upset, according to TMZ. While viewers can’t be sure what exactly he muttered, Internet lip readers think it’s either “what an idiot” or “OMG.” More people think the former than the latter.

However, Stone had a great night, all jokes aside. She won the Oscar for Best Actress. “My voice has disappeared a little bit too, whatever,” Ella Stone said in her acceptance speech. She also referenced a wardrobe malfunction she had.

She added: “The other night I panicked, as you can see it happens a lot. That maybe something like that could happen, and Yorgos told me: ‘Please get out of this.’ And she was right, because it’s not about me. This is a team that came together to make something greater than the sum of its parts. And that’s the best part of making movies. “It’s all of us together.”

Emma Stone grateful for the award

Stone made sure to thank everyone who worked on poor things, the movie Kimmel made fun of. She said that she shared the award with her cast members.

“I am deeply honored to share this with every cast member, with every crew member, with every person who put their love and their care and their brilliance into the making of this film,” Stone said.

Stone also wanted to thank his family. “I know I have to finish, but I really just want to thank my family. My mom, my brother Spencer, my dad, my husband Dave. [McCary]I love you a lot.”

Most importantly, Stone wanted to thank her daughter. Stone even quoted Taylor Swift from her song “Bigger Than the Whole Sky.” Being a father has been important for the usually private actor.

“And, most importantly, my daughter, who will be 3 years old in three days and has turned our lives into Technicolor,” the star continued. “I love you more than all of heaven, my girl.”
