Emily Blunt had the best meeting with Taylor Swift. The actor said the singer gave his daughter the confidence boost she needed.
Appearing in the Howard Stern Show, Blunt opened up about his meeting with Swift. Her 10-year-old daughter was also there and met the singer. Blunt described Swift as the “nicest” person who ever lived. In particular, Swift won points for being nice to her children.
“She was very kind to my children,” he said. At that time, her daughter had very short hair, so she felt self-conscious. Swift gave her the encouragement she needed.
“My oldest daughter had just cut off all of her hair, a very short haircut that she was very self-conscious about,” Blunt continued. “And Taylor Swift says, ‘God, look at you, you’re like that cool Beatnik kid from the ’60s.’ I just love your style.’”
Blunt’s daughter was amazed by Swift’s compliment. It was a real confidence boost for her daughter. Overall, Blunt called Swift “very cool” and made her angry “melt down” as a result.
“I thought my son was going to faint,” Blunt joked. “It was the best thing anyone has ever done for my son.”
Taylor Swift preaches kindness
Overall, Swift preached a message of kindness and encouraged her fans to do the same. Take this incident from a concert in 2023 as an example. Aware that her fans may harass people online, Swift urged them to send a message of kindness ahead of her album.
“I get to walk on this stage every night of this tour and watch the most beautiful things happen,” he told the crowd.
“So I was hoping to ask you that as we get closer to the release of this album, I would love for that kindness and graciousness to extend to our activities on the Internet,” he continued. “Okay? So what I’m trying to say is that I’m putting out this album because I want to own my music. That’s why I’m putting out this album.”
She urged her fans not to try to defend her online.
She said, “So what I’m trying to tell you is that I’m not releasing this album so you can feel the need to defend me on the Internet against someone who you think could have written a song about 14 years old.” A billion years ago when I was 19. I don’t care. We have all grown up. We’re ok.”
